“…The results of our experiments suggest that systemically administered β 3 ‐adrenergic receptor agonists might act directly on the bladder. This might further indicate the potential for β 3 ‐adrenoceptor agonists as effective agents for universal OAB, regardless of the presence or level of neurological deficits, by acting directly on the bladder even for OAB that is refractory to anticholinergics 25 …”

“…The clinical effectiveness of β 3 ‐adrenoceptor agonists on neurogenic detrusor overactivity has not yet been fully approved 25 because the pharmacological mechanism is still equivocal, and there is limited clinical experience using β3‐adrenoceptor agonists to treat neurogenic detrusor overactivity. The results of our experiments suggest that systemically administered β 3 ‐adrenergic receptor agonists might act directly on the bladder.…”

“…Recently, in a systematic review of the efficacy and safety of mirabegron for neurogenic bladder dysfunction, El Helou et al reported that mirabegron was also effective and safe for subjective symptoms and objective findings, such as urodynamic studies. 4 However, patients in all the studies cited in this article received mirabegron in anticholinergic refractory cases, and to the best of our knowledge, there is no detailed study on the efficacy of b3-adrenergic receptor agonists as a first-line drug in patients with neurogenic bladder dysfunction. Therefore, prospective studies on b3-adrenergic receptor agonists are warranted in the future for the selection of treatments for neurogenic bladder dysfunction.…”
