Breast cancer-related lymphedema is one of the complications resulting from treatment. It is defined as arm oedema in the breast cancer patients caused by interruption of the flow of the axillary lymphatic system from surgery or radiation therapy, which results in the accumulation of fluid in the subcutaneous tissue of the arm, with a decrease in tissue distensibility around the joints and an increased weight of the extremity.Decongestive lymphatic therapy is common management for lymphedema. A program combining skin care, manual lymphatic drainage, exercise, and compression therapy (multilayer bandage or garment) is recognised as the best practice in lymphedema management.Kinesio taping (KT) for lymphatic drainage is a new choice in the field of physical therapy. The material and the original concept of the taping technique were introduced by Dr Kenso Kase in 1973. K-tape had been designed to allow 30-40% longitudinal stretch. It is composed of 100% cotton fibers and acrylic heat sensitive glue. Development of the technique for its administration is still ongoing.The paper discusses the case of a woman with breast cancer, in whom lymphedema occurred. The patient had three weeks of therapy. The treatment consisted of 12 manual lymphatic drainage, 12 pneumatic compressions and 3 applications of the KT method (due to the lack of standard multi-layer bandaging). During the measurement of oedema it was noted that KT had a significant effect on the reduction of lymphedema and accelerates healing effects compared to standard methods.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the impact of pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain on every day functioning and evaluate how effective Kinesio Taping is in reducing pain for pregnant women.Material and methods: 24 women filled the author's questionnaire, Oswestry Disability Index Questionnaire and Pelvic Girdle Questionnaire before starting the therapy. Elastic tape was applied onto the lumbosacral area for 5 days and was evaluated 1 st day of the test immediately before application, day 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 day of the examination.Results: ODI score was 20.09 and showed major disability resulting from severity of the pain. PGQ score was 19.909. Significant pain reduction was registered on the 3 rd day after tape was applied, significant pain reduction on the day of tape removal, and 5 days after tape removal. Conclusions:Elastic tape decreases pain in pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain. Pelvic girdle pain deteriorates the quality of life for pregnant women.

BackgroundThe aim of our study was to assess the influence of KT on the pain, range of motion and muscle strength of the rotator cuff during long-term rehabilitation process. Methods In pre post treatment randomized controlled trial took part sixty outpatients with the rotator cuff injury. Thirty participants were assigned into a researched group in which Kinesio Taping was combined with a six-week rehabilitation program and a control group (30 patients) in which only rehabilitation program was employed. Patients underwent functional testing according to the protocol of Orthopaedic Medicine Cyriax and were subjected to the measurement of muscle strength using Biodex System 4 dynamometer. ResultsThe therapy brought positive results in both groups when it comes to the increase of their muscle strength and the improvement of the upper limb functionality. Better effects were achieved by the therapy that used Kinesio Taping method, although the differences were not statistically significant. ConclusionsThe use of the Kinesio Taping method combined with the rehabilitation program gave the same results as the employment of the rehabilitation program alone in reference to the pain, range of motion and muscle strength of the rotator cuff.
