“…Hydrotalcites containing one of the anions 2-ethylhexanoate, carbonate, oxalate, malonate, succinate, octanedicarboxylate, benzoate, phthalate, terephthalate, or trimesate with magnesium to aluminum ratios of approximately 3:1 were synthesized by coprecipitation according to the synthesis by Kooli et al [9] Due to an increasing incorporation tendency in the order NO 3 À < Cl À < SO 4 2À < CO 3 2À , [18] nitrate salts were used as counter anions in the metal salts to minimize the incorporation of the counter anion instead of the desired organic anion. Because of the high tendency of carbon dioxide incorporation from air, resulting in carbonate formation, [2] nitrogen was blown into the reaction mixture to avoid this effect.…”
