Pandemi COVID-19 berdampak besar pada dunia pendidikan. Guru harus berusaha melakukan penyesuaian agar proses pembelajaran terlaksana dan mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Berdasarkan survei, bahan ajar masih didominasi oleh penggunaan bahan ajar cetak, padahal pembelajaran sudah dilakukan secara daring. Selain itu, pendekatan yang digunakan didominasi oleh pembelajaran berbasis tugas, tetapi tidak mengikuti urutan pendekatan yang seharusnya (menurut teori). Selanjutnya, pembelajaran bahasa tidak hanya bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berbahasa, tetapi juga mengandung ilmu pengetahuan yang bermanfaat bagi siswa dan lingkungan. Salah satu pengetahuan yang bermanfaat tersebut adalah pendidikan lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar digital berbasis tugas dengan pendidikan lingkungan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan Model Plomp (penelitian pendahuluan, tahap perancangan, dan tahap penilaian). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis data deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlu dikembangkan bahan ajar untuk pembelajaran bahasa. Berdasarkan respons guru terhadap model bahan ajar menunjukkan respons yang positif untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran.

The COVID-19 pandemic has not ended, so the learning process is still being carried out online. This results in ambiguity about how to teach. Language learning must be able to improve language skills, but some of these skills are difficult to teach. Based on the survey, speaking skills are the most difficult skills to teach online. Efforts are needed to overcome this, because speaking is considered the ultimate goal of language learning and the most basic skill to achieve. The purpose of this study was to develop dialogic-interactive media to improve students' speaking skills. The type of research used is development research using the Plomp Model (Preliminary Research, Prototype Phase, & Assessment Phase). Based on the research stages, the research objectives described in this article are to (1) describe the results of development research at the Preliminary Research stage and (2) describe the results of development research at the Prototyping Phase. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive data analysis technique. Based on the results of the study, it is shown that the use of learning methods and media in learning to speak has not helped students to improve their speaking skills. Therefore, interactive dialogical media were developed (introduction, interactive setting, everyday talk, learning talk, teaching talk, presenting; questioning; extending) and the teacher had a good response to the media model developed for use in learning to speak.

Explicit Affective Strategy Instruction to Develop Speaking Performance of Egyptian EFL University Students

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of explicit affective strategy instruction on the speaking performance of Freshmen English majors at Faculty of Education, Suez University, Egypt. The design of the study is a pre-post quasi experimental one. The instrument is a pre/post speaking performance test (designed by the researcher). Participants were eighty Freshmen English majors, randomly divided into two groups: a control group (N=40) and an experimental one (N=40). During the experiment, the experimental group was explicitly taught some affective strategies (lowering anxiety, encouraging yourself and monitoring emotions) while the control group was taught using the traditional method. All participants were tested using the pre/post speaking performance test before and after the intervention. The difference between the post test's mean scores of the control and experimental groups were calculated using Independent Samples t-test and the difference in the mean scores between the pre-and post tests of speaking performance was calculated for each group separately using Paired Samples t-test. A significant difference was found between the post test's mean scores of the control and the experimental groups in favor of the experimental group. Moreover, a significant difference was found between the mean scores of the pre and post test of the experimental group in favor of the post test. It was concluded that participants' level of speaking performance significantly improved after receiving the explicit affective strategy instruction.
