This paper has summarized the principle of Doppler effect of mechanical wave and electromagnetic wave, and introduced the application of Doppler effect in various fields. Doppler effect is widely applied in nuclear physics, astronomy, engineering technology, traffic management, medical diagnosis, etc. For example, it is applied for satellite velocity measurement, Doppler radar, Doppler color ultrasonic diagnostic instruments, etc. Steven Chu of Stanford University won the Nobel Prize, he also adopted the Doppler effect in laser cooling. This paper has proposed a Doppler effect verification device, It consists of ultrasonic power generator, ultrasonic transducer and digital oscilloscope. This device can visually demonstrate the Doppler effect and effectively verify the frequency variation phenomenon caused by the relative motion of the sound source and receiver.
