The Use of Critical Thinking Aspects on Module to Enhance Students’ Academic Achievement

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of critical thinking aspects on the module to enhance students' academic achievement of human circulatory system. Research participants were 8th grade of junior high school students, which assigned into experimental and control groups (each group consists of 27 students) based on One-Way ANOVA result (0.255; p-value > 0.05). This quasiexperimental study applied a pre-test and post-test non-equivalent control group design. An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was us… Show more

“…Hypothesis H4, reflective skepticism is positively related to emotional stability (β = 0.199, ƿ = 0.01). These findings find support in other similar studies (Wicaksana et al, 2020) that critical thinking activities not only have an impact on students' self-knowledge, further it also helps in enhancing other skill dimensional activities such as analysis, evaluation, and conclusion, which helps students to understand problems and develop reasoned solutions (Chan, 2019). Also concurrently it increases the student's well-being (Mertens et al, 2017).…”

“…Another issue associated with teaching critical thinking skills is the importance of developing students' critical thinking skills at an early age. In essence, critical thinking skills should be embedded in the science curriculum from beginning in the early grades of schooling and growing in complexity and sophistication throughout the grades (Bailin, 2002;Wicaksana, Widoretno, & Dwiastuti, 2020). In doing so, the current study can contribute to the development and assessment of the early grade students' science critical thinking skills in informing science educators and teachers about how to design an effective learning environment to teach science critical thinking skills in their classroom.…”
