Pussell and Pitney (1972), when using low dose heparin for prevention of deep vein thrombosis in humans, showed with radioisotope labelled fibrinogen that the incidence of thrombus formation on 'panic needles' was similar in treated and control patients. With a similar result to that obtained here, Wall ace et al (1973) showed in dogs that systemic heparinization sufficient to prolong the coagulation time significantly minimized thrombus production.…”
