The advancement of technology has brought us convenience to keep up with the world. With a click of the gadgets, it bridges us with people and recent happenings in the society. Social media platforms have been one of the most popular software-based digital technologies that are widely utilized, including educators who teach skills and deliver knowledge in the classroom. Numerous research had been conducted to provide insights and professional practices to the educators. However, a few has been done in Malaysia semi-urban primary ESL (English as a Second Language) classroom context. Thus, this research was intended to explore the use of social media platforms in primary ESL classroom. An online survey questionnaire which presented in Google Form had been distributed to 300 primary ESL teachers in Terengganu, Malaysia to know their most preferred social media platform and challenges faced in ESL classroom. The result showed that YouTube is the most preferred social media platform in ESL teaching. It also portrayed that the most challenging issue was time constraint. It is recommended to conduct a detailed research to understand the realworld situation by having in-depth interviews with the ESL teachers to discover their ESL teaching experience in using social media platforms.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan pengembangan panduan penggunaan aplikasi plickers sebagai penunjang penilaian hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya penggunaan teknologi dalam dunia pendidikan, khususnya dalam proses penilaian. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur, yang meliputi analisis jurnal penelitian terdahulu, buku, disertasi, e-book, dan contoh-contoh kasus yang berkaitan dengan masalah yang sedang diteliti. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa aplikasi plickers merupakan alat yang efektif untuk menilai hasil belajar, dan diperlukan panduan untuk menggunakan aplikasi tersebut untuk memaksimalkan penggunaannya. Penelitian ini juga mengindikasikan adanya potensi untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut dalam hal penilaian hasil belajar dan pemanfaatan teknologi serupa dalam konteks pendidikan dasar. Pengembangan lebih lanjut ini dapat mencakup peningkatan panduan penggunaan, pengembangan fitur aplikasi yang lebih sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik dan guru, serta penelitian lebih lanjut tentang dampak teknologi dalam proses belajar-mengajar. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan yang berharga bagi para pendidik dan peneliti yang tertarik untuk menggunakan teknologi dalam pendidikan dan meningkatkan proses pembelajaran dan penilaian.

This study investigated the effects of Plickers use on rural students’ learning outcomes through two case scenarios. In the first case scenario, the study adopted a preexperimental study method with a focus on comparing Plickers with traditional testing to examine rural students’ learning attitudes toward Plickers. The participants were 24 students in a small rural elementary school in Taiwan who completed 1 month of English learning. In the second case scenario, a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design was employed to evaluate the instructional effectiveness of Plickers on students’ learning performances. Research participants were 60 students from two classes in a large rural elementary school in Taiwan. During 1 month of math instruction, students in the experimental group took Plickers-based quizzes, whereas students in the control group used small whiteboards to respond during quizzes. The results from the first case indicated that students’ overall attitudes toward Plickers in English class remained positive. The results from the second case revealed that Plickers may enable students to achieve greater learning performance and improvement during math instruction. However, students’ perceptions of Plickers were similar in both cases, indicating joyful learning and active engagement when Plickers was adopted as a formative assessment tool.
