The use of absorbing boundary conditions in the method of lines

In this paper, the analysis of patch antennas with U-shaped\ud metalization loaded by bianisotropic media is deeloped. A theoretical\ud study is performed to obtain transmission-line equations for bianisotropic\ud materials, and then a method-of-lines (MoL) procedure is applied to\ud obtain the radiatie characteristics. Presented results assure, for particular\ud patch dimensions and feed application geometry, a multifrequency\ud operation in the microwae range, een for isotropic substrates. The\ud application of bianisotropic materials gies better performances for bandwidth\ud and input impedance at the central frequency, but degrades other\ud frequency operation performances

The analysis of patch antennas loaded by general inhomogeneous and lossy chiral media is presented in this paper, implementing ( ) a new method-of-lines MoL procedure, which considers inhomogeneous planar structures loaded by any bi-isotropic material. Presented results refer to the effect of a chiral co¨er on the resonance frequency of a simple squared-patch structure. Design charts are presented to simply analyze the separate effects of co¨er thickness and chirality.ABSTRACT: The detection, location, and sizing of immersed objects in a host medium are tasks of interest in many fields. One of the most suitable tools for the nonin¨asi¨e measurements of buried objects is the use of microwa¨es. We propose in this paper a microwa¨e method based on the knowledge of the reflection coefficient.
