The Use of a New Ionic Derivative of Salicylic Acid in Sugar Beet Cultivation

Rafal Kukawka,
Maciej Spychalski,
Bartosz Grzempa
et al.

Abstract: The need for sustainable development in the context of pesticide use has been recognized by the European Union. The “Farm to Fork Strategy” indicates a goal of 50% reduction in pesticide use by 2030. To address this challenge, we used the concept of ionic liquids to modify known resistance inducers, i.e., a group of substances whose action is indicated as an alternative to fungicides. A new, patented substance developed by us, which is a choline 3,5-dichlorosalicylate, has been tested in the context of its use… Show more

“…What is more, the need for sustainable development in the context of pesticide use is also demonstrated in "Farm to Fork Strategy", which indicates a goal of 50% reduction in pesticide use by 2030. In our previous work, we demonstrated such a possibility with the use of another ionic derivative named choline 3,5-dichlorosalicylate (3,5 diClSal) in the cultivation of sugar beet [39]. A similar level of protection against C. beticola and the amount of technological sugar yield was obtained as a result of treatment with a combined variant consisting of SAR inducer and fungicide (in a reduced number of treatments) as well as a variant consisted of standard fungicide treatment (SFP).…”
