Ao longo do litoral brasUelro existem extensas áreas de progradação quaternária, a maioria das quais vinculada a importantes desembocaduras fluviais, enquanto que outras não apresentam qualquer ligação com desembocaduras fluviais, atuais ou pretéritas. Todos os C8808, até aqui estudados, podem ser explicados pelo modelo de evolução paleogeográfica concebido pelos autores, válido para o trecho Macaé (RJ) a Maceió (AL). Dois ou mais dos estádios do rnodek> completo podem ser omitidos na explicação da história evolutiva de algumas dessas pIanicies.As planfcies costeiras dos rios Doce (ES) e Paralba do Sul (RJ) caractarizam-8e pela presença de expressivos deltas Intralagunares, que foram construfdos no Interior de extensas paleoiagunas. As planfcies costeiras dos rios Jequitinhonha (BA) e São Francisco (SEI AL), ambas de menor expressão do que as anteriores, não apresentam deltas intralagunares porque nunca chegaram a desenvolver lagunas de maior porte durante a sua evolução geológica. Por outro lado, a foz do Rio Parnalba (Pl/MA) pode ser considerada como de domÚllo essencialmente eólico e a pIarícIe de Caravelas (BA) não possui qualquer relação com desembocadura fluvial.Nessas planfcles, que foram freqOentemente descritas como 8888I1CIaImente holocênicas, foram também encontrados sedimentos plelstocênicos ao lado dos hoIocênicos. Além disso; a variação de n(vel relativo do mar durante o Quaternário superior, quase sempre completamente Ignorada nos estudos de deltas quaternários de vários paises, 'desempenhou um papel essencial na formação dessas planfcles.Finalmente, consIderando-se a definição de delta S8IJSU strIctu, mesmo 88 pIanfcIes costeiras situadas nas principais desembocaduras fluviais não podem ser consideradas como r verdadeiros deltas. já que os seus sedimentos foram só parclaJmente supridos pelo rio, sendo em grande parte resultantes de retrabalhamento de sedimentos rellquiares da plataforma continental.A compreensão da evolução geológica das planfcles costeiras, durante os Mimos milhares de anos, fornece valiosas informações sobre as mudanças paleoambientais em geral e, também, pode explicar as tendências da dinâmica atual. Rhyacian evolution of the eastern São Luís Craton: petrography, geochemistry and geochronology of the Rosário Suite

ABSTRACT:The São Luís Cráton comprises an area between northeast Pará state and northwest Maranhão that exposes Paleoproterozoic granitic suites and meta-volcanosedimentary sequences. In the east of this geotectonic unit, about 70 km south of São Luís, there is a portion of the São Luís Craton, represented by the intrusive Rosario Suite (RS). This work is focused on rocks of this suite, including petrographic, lithochemical and geochronological studies to understand the crustal evolution of these granitoid rocks. The rock spectrum varies from tonalitic to granodioritic, quartz dioritic and granitic compositions, and there are partial structural and mineralogical changes related to deformation along transcurrent shear zones. The geochemical studies show granitic metaluminous compositions of the calc-alkaline series with I-type affinity typical of magmatic arc. Rare earth elements show marked fractionation and slight Eu positive or negative anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.82 to 1.1). Zircon U-Pb data provided consistent ages of 2165 ± 7 Ma, 2170 ± 7 Ma, 2170 ± 7 Ma, 2161 ± 4 Ma and 2175 ± 8 Ma, dating emplacement of these granitoids as Paleoproterozoic (Rhyacian). Sm-Nd isotopic data provided model ages (T DM ) of 2.21 to 2.31 Ga with positive values of εNd +1.9 to +3.2 (t = 2.17 Ga), indicating predominantly Rhyacian crustal sources for the parental magmas, similar to those ones found in other areas of the São Luís Craton. The data, integrated with published geological and geochronological information, indicate the occurrence of an important continental crust formation event in this area. The Paleoproterozoic evolution between 2.17 and 2.15 Ga is related to the Transamazonian orogeny. The granitoids of the Rosario Suite represent the main phase of continental arc magmatism that has continuity in other parts of the São Luís Craton and can be correlated with Rhyacian accretionary magmatism in the northwestern portion of the Amazonian Craton that amalgamated Archean terrains during the Transamazonian orogeny.KEYWORDS: Rosário Suite; São Luís Craton; Petrology; U-Pb geochronology; Sm-Nd T DM . Resumo: Imagens de elétrons retro-espalhados e microanálises químicas por microssonda eletrônica foram obtidas a partir de cristais de monazita pertencentes ao Distrito Pegmatítico de Santa Maria de Itabira nas lavras de Morro Escuro, Ponte da Raíz e Euxenita. Essas lavras estão nos municípios de Santa Maria de Itabira, Ferros, Guanhães e Sabinópolis, em Minas Gerais. As amostras coletadas fazem parte da Província Pegmatítica Oriental Brasileira (PPOB), situada em um contexto pós-colisional do Orógeno Araçuaí correspondente ao final do Ciclo Brasiliano. Os cristais mostram-se homogêneos, ou seja, livres de domínios/zoneamentos composicionais e seus teores de U, Th e Pb permitiram a obtenção de idade química média de 474 Ma para o distrito pegmatítico da região estudada. Seus padrões de terras raras normalizados ao condrito mostram anomalia positiva de Sm, elemento fortemente particionado em anfibólio. Esta anomalia sugere que no contexto pós-colisional do Orógeno Araçuaí houve a fusão parcial do biotita-hornblenda gnaisse (Grupo Guanhães), rocha encaixante dos pegmatitos, durante o processo de descompressão regional associado ao colapso do orógeno, gerando um magma granítico hidratado o bastante para permitir o avolumado crescimento de cristais dos pegmatitos desse Distrito Pegmatítico, incluindo a monazita. Este mineral atua, portanto, não só como um geocronômetro, mas também como importante indicador petrogenético dos pegmatitos estudados. This anomaly suggests that in the post-collisional context of the Araçuaí Orogen there was partial melting of the host rocks of the Guanhães Group (biotite-hornblende gneiss) during the regional decompression process linked with the collapse of the orogen. This contributed to formation of a granitic melt, which was hydrated enough to allow the large crystal growth of the Itambé pegmatites, including monazite. Therefore, this mineral represents not only a geochronometer, but also a petrogenetic indicator of the studied pegmatites.Keywords: Monazite; Santa Maria de Itabira (MG); U-Th-Pb chemical dating, electron microprobe; petrogenetic indicator INTRODUÇÃOOs estudos referentes a corpos pegmatíticos apresentam grande importância desde as últimas décadas, por se tratarem de rochas fonte da grande maioria dos minerais-gema, minerais industriais e de elementos raros. Os pegmatitos são interpretados como um produto de fracionamento ígneo de fusões graníticas ou se formam por processos anatéticos, a partir da fusão parcial da rocha encaixante (Černý, 1982). A maior parte dos minerais encontrados nos pegmatitos pertence a três classes predominantes: silicatos, fosfatos e óxidos.
