The Unintended Consequences of Democracy Promotion: International Organizations and Democratic Backsliding

Abstract: Since the end of the Cold War, international organizations (IOs) have engaged in unprecedented levels of democracy promotion, and research overwhelmingly links them to positive democratic outcomes.
