“…The neuropsychological battery included the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) as a screening of global cognitive function and the following tests to assess five ( Albert et al, 2011 ) cognitive domains: (1) memory by the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT), Logical Memory from the Wechsler Memory Scale-Third Edition (LM), and Rey–Osterrieth Complex Figure Test (ROCFT recall after 3 min); (2) executive function by the Trail Making Test B (TMT B), phonemic verbal fluency—letters N, K, and P (P-VF) and Prague Stroop test—colors (PST); (3) language by the Boston Naming Test 30-item version (BNT) and category verbal fluency—animals (C-VF); (4) attention and working memory by the Trial Making Test A (TMT A) and Digit Span Forward and Backward (DS) from the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Third Edition; and (5) visuospatial function by the Rey–Osterrieth Complex Figure Test (ROCFT copy) ( Nikolai et al, 2018 ). All scores are presented in Table 1 .…”

“…Lower education refers to basic or lower secondary schools, such as trade schools, without the state leaving/graduation exam (i.e., without “maturita” in Czechia; 8–16 years of reported schooling in our sample); and higher education refers to secondary or high schools, including the state graduation exam, and tertiary schools or universities (11–33 years of reported schooling in our sample). This qualitative categorization of education is frequently used in normative studies of cognitive tests as the education system changed in the past century several times, and a number of years is not the best description of the level of acquired education (Bezdicek et al, 2015; Štěpánková et al, 2015; Kopecek et al, 2017; Nikolai et al, 2018). Advertising on the Internet, physicians’ and ophthalmologists’ offices, and snowball sampling were used.…”

“…It was administered using paper and pencil, except for two computerized tests. The battery consisted of tests frequently used in research and clinical practice related to aging and age-related cognitive disorders (Beeri et al, 2006; Weintraub et al, 2009; Swindell et al, 2012; Nikolai et al, 2018), assessing different domains such as episodic memory, attention, (verbal and visuo-graphomotor) psychomotor speed, and executive functions.…”
