The ultrastructure of the androgenic gland in Porcellio scaber Latr. (terrestrial isopods)

Abstract: This paper presents the normal ultrastructural features of the androgenic gland in Porcellio scaber. It describes the changes in the organelles of its cells through the course of the secretory cycle, which terminates with the regression and destruction of these holocrine glandular cells. As products of this activity, the electron-opaque bodies (granules, lysosomes, agglomerates) and clear substances accumulate in the cytoplasm.
