The two-nucleon interaction

Abstract: I n recent years there have been great advances in understanding the interaction of two nucleons, both phenomenologically and in terms of a fundamental meson-nucleon coupling. T h e present report describes the methods and achievements of phenomenology and meson field theory in this subject. If V depends on p as well as r it is 'non-static' or 'non-local'.T h e potential is generally taken to have the following properties : (i) Invariance under rotations in space. (ii) Invariance under reflections in space (par… Show more

“…It goes beyond the scope of this paper to discuss the whole variety of the different techniques which have been developed to construct an effective interactions, see ref. [15] for a comprehensive review. We will now briefly introduce two methods which will be important for our further considerations.…”

“…This has been achieved in an elegant way by Fukuda et al [20] and Okubo [21]. They introduced an operator A ≡ λAη which maps the states φ into the states ψ: 15) so that the state Ψ is given by…”

“…Evidence for the influence of the polar head group on the packing of hydrocarbon chains has been discussed in the literature (13) and, recently, detailed calorimetric studies were published demonstrating the influence of the nature and changes of the polar head group on the crystalline to liquidxrystalline phase transition of lipids (24,25). However, the transition described here is not identical with the crystalline to liquidxrystalline phase transition, but is associated with a new characteristic temperature ( Table 2).…”

“…In particular, detailed studies regarding the organization of acyl chains of various lecithins have been published (for review see Ref. 13). In all these studies, the major change obtained when the experimentally measured parameter was plotted against temperature was attributed to the transition from crystalline to liquidxrystalline state of acyl chains ('main transition', upper transition in Table 2); in addition, in several studies another change at a lower temperature was also reported ('pretransition', lower transition in Table 2), commonly attributed to the changes of lecithin head group (however, see also Ref.…”
