The two- and three-cluster fish bone model with saturation

Abstract: The two-and three-cluster fish bone optical model with hard core correlations is derived from the corresponding resonating group model. The nuclear saturation effect is represented by three different features of inter-cluster interactions: i) by the non-local exchange potential, ii) by a reduced attraction in the region of overlapping clusters, iii)by an effective three-cluster potential. Comparability of the microscopic theory with phenomenological models is established by two off-shell transformations which … Show more

“…The potential W may be interpreted as the kinetic energy density arising from the Jastrow correlation, folded over the internal motion. The third term is a rather weak surface potential, 1 h 2 (V J) 2 U/J= 42p j2 9 (8) It arises from the first one of two off-shell transformations which have been discussed in [1]. This transformation also produces the J in the denominator of the first two terms of P~ and the hat on Ve reminds us that it has been carried out.…”

“…From an earlier 3e calculation [16] we know that the direct part of the ~c~ potential would have to become zero, or even positive, near the origin in order to prevent overbinding. We conclude that three-cluster potentials, which do also arise from Jastrow correlations [1], are mainly responsible for saturation in multicluster systems. The strength of the three-body potential which has been found in the AAc~ system [2] supports this assertion.…”

“…The Pauli effect has been studied and brought to a simpler mathematical form [5]. The effect of short ranged correlations of the constituents [6] has been studied and three-cluster potentials have been investigated [7]. The next step in the systematic study of general features of effective interactions will be the investigation of the influence of cluster-distortion and reaction channels.…”

“…Electromagnetic radiation can excite collective oscillations of conduction electrons in metallic nanoparticles, known as localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs). These LSPRs of individual metal nanoparticles not only can be tuned according to their size, shape, composition, and environment, but can also be altered through near-field electromagnetic coupling between the neighboring nanoparticles. This phenomenon has been widely demonstrated, with the simplest case being a nanoparticle dimer in which two nanoparticles are separated by a small gap. …”
