The tribological properties of poly(p‐phenylene benzobisoxazole) pulp reinforced friction materials

Abstract: Automotive friction materials reinforced by home-made poly (p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) (PBO) pulp (fibrillated organic fibers) were prepared through compression molding. The friction and wear behaviors of the obtained composite materials were evaluated using a constant rotating speed type friction tester. The PBO pulp content and the testing loads showed clear influence on the tribological properties of the composites. Friction stability, wear rate, and morphology of sliding surfaces were carefully examined … Show more

“…LDI has been combined with high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) to analyze lignin and wood bio‐oil, biochar and on lignin pyrolysis intermediates . Matrix assisted LDI (MALDI) combined with time of flight mass spectrometry (TOF MS) has been used on lignin liquefaction products . This method gives the distribution of main m / z values from monomeric and oligomeric species present in the bio‐oil.…”

“…In addition to the excellent mechanical property and thermal stability, PBO fibers also unfold high flexibility, good impact/friction resistance, and dimensional stability is called the super fiber of the 21st century. [15][16][17][18][19] Until now, PBO fibers acted as the ideal reinforcement of composites, have been widely utilized in various fields, such as aerospace, military, transportation, building, and sports goods. [20][21][22] However, the deep application of PBO fibers suffers from the problem of poor interfacial adhesion, ascribing from the smooth surface, and inherent inert molecular structure.…”
