Introduction: Telemedicine technology is no longer a futuristic concept and is increasingly integrated into health care. As the studies on attitudes toward telemedicine focus mainly on physicians and medical students, there is a need to evaluate the views of students in other fields of paramedical sciences. Thus, the present study aims to evaluate the awareness of and attitude towards telemedicine among the Paramedical Sciences students of Varastegan Institute for Medical Sciences in Mashhad.Material and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in May 2022. A standard questionnaire was used to evaluate the awareness of and attitude towards telemedicine. This questionnaire included 14 questions, including demographic information (5 questions), information related to exposure to telemedicine (5 questions), interest in telemedicine (2 questions), and plans for future use (2 questions). A proportional per-size sampling method was used for paramedical sciences students.Results: A total of 81 participants responded to the research questionnaire. Most of the students (70.4%) stated that they had seldom been exposed to telemedicine technology. However, 50 students (62.6%) agreed and strongly agreed that exposure to telemedicine in the classroom is an important educational aspect. Also, 37 students (45.7%) strongly agreed that telemedicine needs face-to-face education. A significant difference was observed between the field of study and interest after experiencing telemedicine among the students (p=0.04). Also, there was a significant difference between the academic semester and the level of interest in telemedicine among the students (p<0.001).Conclusion: The results of this survey show that the majority of paramedical sciences students still lack the experience of being exposed to it, despite the increasing development of telemedicine. Since the majority of them are interested in using telemedicine as an educational aspect, future studies are recommended to help the education and experience of exposure to telemedicine among paramedical science students.

Background The Fear of Childbirth (FOC) is associated with several adverse health outcomes for children and women. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an interactive mobile health application named Tele-midwifery with an emphasis on continuous care and education, on FOC, self-efficacy, and childbirth mode in primiparous women. Methods Seventy primiparous women attending the prenatal clinic of Baharlou Hospital in Tehran, Iran, were randomly assigned to two parallel intervention and control groups with 35 participants each. Women in the intervention group received Tele-midwifery for eight weeks, whereas women in the control group only received routine care. The Wijma delivery expectancy/experience questionnaire and the Childbirth Self-Efficacy Inventory were used to measure the FOC and self-efficacy at baseline and eight weeks after the intervention. The FOC and birth mode were also measured after birth. Results There was a significant decrease in FOC among women in the intervention group compared to control groups after eight weeks of intervention (- 20.9 [95% Confidence Interval,—24.01 to—17.83], p < 0.001), and after birth (- 30.8, [95% CI—33.8 to—27.97], p < 0.001). After eight weeks, the mean self-efficacy score in the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group (p < 0.001). Compared to the control group, the intervention group had a lower C-Section (CS) rate (p = 0.03). Conclusions Tele-midwifery intervention reduced FOC, increased women’s self-efficacy in childbirth, and decreased the number of CS in a group of first-time mothers. Healthcare providers can use the mHealth approach to support pregnant women with FOC. Trial registration Registration number: IRCT20200122046227N1, Registered on 27 January 2020.

Introduction: The aim of this systematic review was to investigate the impact of tele-ophthalmology on screening, monitoring and treatment adherence in eye diseases.Material and Methods: A systematic review of controlled and randomized clinical trial studies without time limit was explored by searching keywords in the title, abstract and keywords of the studies in the reliable scientific databases Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed on April 20, 2022. A gray literature search was also conducted using the Google search engine to identify the most recent possible evidence. The quality of the studies was evaluated using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) checklist; that the studies with a score above 7 were included in the analysis.Results: A total of 40 articles were identified after removing duplicates. After screening the full text of the articles, 5 studies met the inclusion criteria. In four of the studies, tele-ophthalmology was used for tele-screening and tele-monitoring using tele-imaging approaches, live video conferencing, and websites. Also, in one case, telemedicine reminder studies were used to improve treatment adherence. In the majority of studies, tele-ophthalmology was at least as effective as in-person visit services in screening, monitoring, and adherence to treatment.Conclusion: The results of our systematic review showed that a well-designed tele-ophthalmology program with high-quality cameras and equipment and the use of multiple technologies has the potential to replace or complement in-person visits to an ophthalmologist.
