The treatment challenges and limitation in high-voltage pediatric electrical burn at rural area: A case report

Abstract

Highlights Electrical burn treatment in rural area is still inadequate due to lack of resources and knowledge of the health personnel and community members. The lack of burn prevention programs in the community contributes to the high prevalence of burn mortality and morbidity. There is a need for acknowledging and maximizing the implementation of available standardized guidelines i.e. ANZBA in healthcare facility. Homogenized health personnel training, health facility support, and patient’s strict monitoring can be the key for burn management in rural area. Burn rehabilitation and accommodation for patient’s psychosocial needs in an outpatient setting should also be the focus of burn management.
