The Transurethral Seminal Vesiculoscopy in the Diagnosis and Treatment of the Seminal Vesicle Disease

Abstract: To develop a transurethral endoscopy technique of the transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy to examine and treat seminal vesicle disease. A total of 61 patients with seminal vesicle disease were diagnosed and treated with the transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy through the distal seminal tracts and vesicles. 58 cases were successfully treated using transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy via the seminal vesicles. The operation took 25 ~ 85 min, with an average of (35.6) mins. In this group, seven cases were diagnose… Show more

“…[11][12][13][14][15] No severe complications were observed in these studies. [11][12][13][14][15] The present study investigated the use of transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy to analyse the cause of the seminal vesiculitis in 114 patients with an intractable form of the disease. To our knowledge, this is the largest study undertaken to date in this research area.…”

“…To date, few studies have focused on seminal vesiculoscopy in diagnosing and treating seminal vesiculitis. [11][12][13][14][15] The overall cure rate was reported as 78.6-97.6%, with the recurrence rate being <10%. [11][12][13][14][15] No severe complications were observed in these studies.…”

“…Modalities for diagnosis include vasoseminal vesiculography, MRI, CT, and TRUS. Vasoseminal vesiculography is an invasive procedure; the lesion of the puncture site may be too narrow which can induce secondary seminal ductal obstruction [25]. The diagnosis of SV calculi can be done through an MRI, which is able to visualize the distal duct system.…”

“…Clinicians advise that the combination of an endorectal coil and MRI will provide a more viable diagnosis. However, it has been noted that these examinations yield a false-positive rate as well as diagnostic limitations secondary to the false-negative cases [25]. Thus, clinical applications through the diagnosis of an MRI are limited.…”
