The Thrombus to Embolus Transition and its Contributing Factors

Abstract: Thromboembolic events are some of the major causes of death in the United States. They must be carefully monitored in persons who are susceptible to thrombus formation due to hypercoagulability problems which may arise as a result of surgery or diseases such as sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, leukemia and diabetes.
