Synthesis. -Te8O10(PO4)4 is prepared by thermal decomposition of Te2O3HPO4 (hydrothermally obtained from a mixture of H3PO4 and TeO2 in an autoclave at 190°C for 24 h) at 450°C. Thermodynamic standard data of Te8O10(PO4)4 are determined by solution calorimetry and differential scanning calorimetry. The use of Te8O10(PO4)4 as an oxidic precursor instead of TeO 2 and P 2 O 5 for the preparation of phosphide tellurides is advantageous because of its thermal stability in the range up to 800°C.
