The theoretical interpretation of the Linear/circularly polarized light-induced molecular orientation of the azo group-containing trans-Achiral Schiff base dinuclear complex composite material

Abstract: Abstract. We have investigated linearly polarized UV and circularly polarized UV light-induced molecular orientation, namely increasing optical anisotropy of newly synthesized AZ containing chiral Schiff base Ni (II), Cu (II) and Zn (II) complexes, as organic/inorganic hybrid materials in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cast films. The driving force and reason for polarized UV light-induced molecular orientation of AZ is so-called Weigert effect. The increase of the dichroic was measured with polarized absorption… Show more

“…In other words, although linearly polarized UV light induced optical anisotropy in metal complexes in hybrid materials, the supramolecular chiral order was not affected, even in chiral metal complexes. be thoroughly examined, and their difference from the optical vortex should be considered [48,49]. Clear circularly polarized light experimental data (identical to conventional circularly polarized light irradiation) are useful for light absorption treatments (unknown for optical vortex), and affect the CD spectra.…”

“…Intermolecular interaction between the solute molecules strongly influenced the environment in a surrounding polymer matrix [40,41] In particular, it is important that intermolecular interactions are decreasing the order and the aggregation in restricted environment (free volume) of polymer films [42]. An orientation order and organization of the systems were examined by polarized spectroscopy, a statistical method (mentioned in a previous section), and molecular dynamics (MD) method [43], as following steps (Figure 9).…”

“…We have investigated photofunctional hybrid materials of some (chiral/achiral) Schiff base metal complexes and photochromic azobenzene, and their interaction with several types of topological lights such as polarized UV light [15][16][17][18][19][20]. In addition, we have studied the theoretical interpretation of the optical properties of these materials [21][22][23][24][25]. In particular, we focused on the molecular orientation due to the dipole-dipole interaction between two molecules.…”
