“…While the literature on the predictive power and sensitivity/specificity of neuropsychological measures is mixed, several measures (e.g., go/no-go, Stroop, divided attention, and continuous performance tasks) have been shown to consistently differentiate children with ADHD from controls (Berlin et al 2004;Harris et al 1995;Kaufmann et al 2010;Wada et al 2000) and from children with other conditions (e.g., high functioning autism; Mahone et al 2006). Further, emerging research suggests that select neuropsychological test batteries may be even more sensitive and specific for diagnosis of ADHD than any one individual measure alone (Gupta et al 2011;Hale, et al 2009).…”

“…The current study used the visual version of the TOVA, a CPT that controls for some confounds of previous CPTs, such as the use of letters, working memory, and right-left discrimination and is therefore purportedly a "purer" measure of sustained attention (Greenberg & Waldman, 1993). To date, three studies have demonstrated its utility as a clinical tool, both in discriminating children with ADHD from normal controls (Schatz, Ballantyne, & Trauner, 2001;Wada, Yamashita, Matsuishi, Ohtani, & Kato, 2000) and from children with other clinical disorders (Forbes, 1998).…”

“…The age distribution of subjects in this study was not specified. Wada, Yamashita, Matsuishi, Ohtani, and Kato (2000) compared 17 Japanese boys with ADHD, 6-12 years of age, with 19 control subjects, and observed age-related change in TOVA scores in the control group but not the ADHD group. Lin, Hsiao, and Chen (1999) studied a sample of 233 school children in Taiwan using a Sunshine Systems CPT and found a curvilinear improvement in performance between 6-12 years of age, with the greatest improvement seen at earlier ages.…”
