The Systems Approach as a Paradigm for Pharmaceutical Research: A Proposal

Abstract

A new paradigm is needed for successful pharmaceutical research. The systems approach, a broad, holistic approach that integrates laboratory and computational approaches, is proposed as a candidate for this paradigm. The use of this approach will provide a more rational means of understanding disease mechanisms and find ing how to target these mechanisms pharmacologically.
