“…100 There appears to be a synergistic relationship between metabolic syndrome, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and prevalence of CAC, 101,102 as well as a synergistic relationship with smoking. 103 Furthermore, the progression of CAC was greater in people with metabolic syndrome and DM than in those without, and progression of CAC predicted future CVD event risk both in those with metabolic syndrome and in those with DM.…”

“…Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are also associated with endothelial dysfunction [ 57 ], whereas increasing age, liver fat, and triglyceride are all related to increased aortic stiffness in adults [ 58 ] and a recent study indicates that NAFLD and MS have a synergistic impact on the subclinical atherosclerosis [ 59 , 60 ].…”

“…Thus, NAFLD is not a simple component of MetS. In addition, the synthetic effect of NAFLD and MetS has been found in various diseases [ 51 , 52 ]. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the interactive effect of SNAFLD and Mets on osteoporosis in postmenopausal females.…”
