Nationwide health information exchange (NHIE) continues to be a persistent concern for government agencies, despite the many efforts and the conceived benefits of sharing patient data among healthcare providers. Difficulties in ensuring global connectivity, interoperability, and concerns on security have always hampered the government from successfully deploying NHIE. By looking at NHIE from a fresh perspective and bearing in mind the pervasiveness and power of modern mobile platforms, this paper proposes a new approach to NHIE that builds on the notion of consumer-mediated HIE, albeit without the focus on central health record banks. With the growing acceptance of smartphones as reliable, indispensable, and most personal devices, we suggest to leverage the concept of mobile personal health records (PHRs installed on smartphones) to the next level. We envision mPHRs that take the form of distributed storage units for health information, under the full control and direct possession of patients, who can have ready access to their personal data whenever needed. However, for the actual exchange of data with health information systems managed by healthcare providers, the latter have to be interoperable with patient-carried mPHRs. Computer industry has long ago solved a similar problem of interoperability between peripheral devices and operating systems. We borrow from that solution the idea of providing special interfaces between mPHRs and provider systems. This interface enables the two entities to communicate with no change to either end. The design and operation of the proposed approach is explained. Additional pointers on potential implementations are provided, and issues that pertain to any solution to implement NHIE are discussed.

Following the announcement of Host Card Emulation (HCE) technology, card emulation mode based Near Field Communication (NFC) services have gained further appreciation as an enabler of the Cloud-based Secure Element (SE) concept. A comprehensive and complete architecture with a centralized and feasible business model for diverse HCE-based NFC services will be highly appreciated, particularly by Service Providers and users. To satisfy the need in this new emerging research area, a Tokenizationbased communication architecture for HCE-based NFC services is presented in this paper. Our architecture proposes Two-Phased Tokenization to enable the identity management of both user and Service Provider. NFC Smartphone users can store, manage, and make use of their sensitive data on the Cloud for NFC services; Service Providers can also provide diverse card emulation NFC services easily through the proposed architecture. In this paper, we initially present the Two-Phased Tokenization model and then validate the proposed architecture by providing a case study on access control. We further evaluate the usability aspect in terms of an authentication scheme. We then discuss the ecosystem and business model comprised of the proposed architecture and emphasize the contributions to ecosystem actors. Finally, suggestions are provided for data protection in transit and at rest.

NFC has a variant where Type 1 with NFC-A, Type 2 with NFC-A, Type 3 with NFC F, and Type 4 with NFC-B. In its application, the use of NFC is based on its tag type. If we go further, each type has similarities and differences. We can look at the various parameters, but for now we will look at 4 parameters, namely Sequence format, Bit level coding, frame format and data & payload format. From the four parameters, compared to the parameter value and obtained the difference and the equation.With that use, an mobile application only runs in one type, while for another type must be modified. To overcome this, it is proposed a framework that can handle the tags of different types. Proposals are made for universal data and payload formats, and the expectations can be recognized by all NFC tag reading tools.Architectures are built with attention to the similarities and differences for each type. For above four parameters. Beginning with getting the data for the use of the most tag type, then made the proposed universal data format. Commonly used types are types 1 and 2. Of the two types, the differences of the four parameters are on the data and payload parameters. And more specifically on the CRC. Thus, a universal data and payload format with a specific CRC is used. General TermsEmbedded system, proximity card technology.
