An ezperimental and theoretical study is presented in this paper on the corona charact&istics of conductor h n d l e s under dynaaic .overvoltages. Measurements have been made in the outdoor test cages of Institut de recherche d'Eydro-QuCbec (IRBQ) on two bundles, under conditions of fair weather and heavy rain, for steady 60 Ez V O h~6 3 as welt as dynamic overvoltages. Based on the data on corona currents and fosqes obtained, a nonlinear resistahce modelbf corona is proposed for attenuation studies. The Sulieiu model for corona, originally, developed for unipolar impulses, has been also adopted for dynamic ouervok ages. Both these corona models are used to study the influence of corona on the dynamic overvoltages developed, during line energisatioa and load shedding of a single phase line.
