The study results of the winter soft wheat varieties of various ecological and geographical origin in the south of the Rostov region

Abstract: The improvement of grain production is the most important global task. The introduction of new highly productive varieties of the leading grain crop, winter wheat, plays a huge role in its solution. The paper presents the study results of 80 winter soft wheat varieties of various ecological and geographical origin. Frost and winter resistance rise of the developed winter soft wheat genotypes today and in the nearest future is one of the main directions of breeding work. The preservation of highly productive wi… Show more

“…When conducting cluster analysis according to the "near neighbor" principle, two clusters were obtained, the distance between which is P = 0.44: S(1,2,3,4), S (5,6,9,7,11,8,10 ). The results of the hierarchical classification of varieties presented in figure 1 in the form of a dendrogram clearly show the advantage of modern varieties.…”

“…The slow pace of variety change, which is typical for our country, contradicts the logic of market relations. The most acceptable period of variety change for grain crops in the world is considered to be an average of 3-5 years, and not 15-17 years, which is typical for Russia [4][5].…”

“…In terms of grain quality, the new variety is a valuable wheat. The nature was 751 g/l, vitreous -50 %, protein content in grain -17.5 %, gluten content in flour -35.3 % of the second group, flour strength -367 e. a., bread volume yield -848 cm 3 , overall bread score -3.3 points. Resistant to germination and shedding of grain on the root.…”

“…To solve these problems, the role of variety is extremely important. When creating a new variety, the breeder always faces the difficult dilemma of combining productivity with its general biological stability, which determines good adaptability to local natural conditions [4,5].…”
