The study of the screen printing quality depending on the surface to be printed

Abstract: This paper presents the study results regarding the analysis of the screen printing quality on different types of materials. The quality of the screen printing is determined by several particularities of the screen printing process such as: the type of mesh, screen ruling, ink viscosity, raster spacing, etc. The material which is supposed to be printed is as important as the particularities of the screen printing process itself. The composition, structure and features of the printed items as well as the compos… Show more

“…Some of the control items are paste viscosity; printing pressure exerted on the substrate (flat and rotary screens); cleaning of printing screens; print speed; temperature (drying, steaming, and polymerisation); type of screen mesh (PET, polyamide); mesh number (counted holes/cm); type of squeegee, among others. 2,10,69 The main tests to evaluate the quality of chemical auxiliaries used in printing are concentration, pH, ionic character, density, colour, odour, solubility, and viscosity. During the printing paste preparation, the pH is one of the most important factors as it can significantly affect the solubility of the various paste components and the stability of pigments/dyes in dispersion.…”

“…Usually, quality and process control in printing is carried out by sensory evaluation (feel and vision) and with the aid of instruments. Some of the control items are paste viscosity; printing pressure exerted on the substrate (flat and rotary screens); cleaning of printing screens; print speed; temperature (drying, steaming, and polymerisation); type of screen mesh (PET, polyamide); mesh number (counted holes/cm); type of squeegee, among others 2,10,69 …”

“…Screen printing frames are usually made in various sizes, adjusted of course to the needs of the screen printing to be carried out (the size of the image to be screened). Screen printing frame materials can be made of wood, aluminum, or sometimes also hollow iron [8].…”
