The Study of the Carotenoid Composition of the Fruits of Sea Buckthorn Different Varie-Ties by Thin Layer Chromatography

Abstract: Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) is an object of general interest due to the high content of biologically active substances (BAS). Fruits contain water- and fat-soluble vitamins, organic acids, sugars, tannins, amino acids, flavonoids and carotenoids. The latter, in turn, give the fruits a typical yellow-orange color. Carotenoids (α-, β-, and γ-carotenes) make up 11% of the unsaponifiable fraction of sea buckthorn oil and are very valuable compounds for the cosmetics industry. Leading scientists of the … Show more

“…sinensis is rich in nutrients such as vitamins, linoleic acid, flavonoids, and various amino acids ( Bal et al, 2011 ; Michel et al, 2011 ; Ghendov-Mosanu et al, 2022 ). Sea buckthorn oil, known as liquid gold, can effectively reduces cholesterol levels, protects the gastric mucous membrane ( Trineeva et al, 2020 ; Pundir et al, 2021 ), prevents hypertension and hyperlipidemia, and promotes wound healing ( Tuomasjukka et al, 2006 ). Therefore, the research and development of sea buckthorn can acquire excellent ecological, economic, and social value.…”

“…Numerous studies report on the content of amino acids in representatives of such families as Nettle (Urticaceae) [12,13], Oleaster (Elaeagnaceae) [14], Leguminosae (Fabaceae) [15,16], and others [17,18]. It has been proven that amino acids are capable of accumulating both in aboveground plant organs and in underground ones.…”

“…Актуальным остается вопрос: как оценить качество продукции быстро и во внелабораторных условиях? Для установления качества растительного сырья используются методы хроматографии [4][5][6][7][8], спектрофотометрии [9][10][11][12] и другие физикохимические методы [13][14][15][16][17][18]. Наиболее селективными являются хроматографические методы.…”
