This research aims at describing the implementation of comparing Indonesian and English culture in EFL context and describing the students’ perception on it. This is a descriptive qualitative. This research is applied to non-English department in English lesson. The data used in this research is the questionnaire results. To collect the data, the writer gives questionnaire to the students via Google Form. The writer uses 4 topic of cultural material such as comparing fairy tale (Bawang Merah Bawang Putih VS Cinderella), tradition (The Night of One Suro VS Halloween), Indonesian VS English proverbs, and Food around the world (Acar/Pickle). The students feel interest and enjoy with all materials. Even after learning those materials, they are proud of Indonesian culture.

Cultural integration in foreign language teaching is one of the ways to help learners develop language competence. In foreign language teaching, there have been many successful models of cultural integration. Vietnamese is also a foreign language of interest in some countries. In Vietnam, a cultural integration model in teaching Vietnamese to foreigners has been initially implemented with good results. The program was based on a number of culturally integrated teaching models to help foreigners learn Vietnamese effectively, including such elements as cultural experience (learning to sing folk songs and taking part in plays), and using literary texts (songs, proverbs). The purpose of this article is to report on a study of the effectiveness of this cultural integration program teaching Vietnamese to overseas students at the Thai Nguyen University of Education. The study involved scrutiny of documents, curricula and teaching methods, along with a survey of international students’ perceptions of three particular aspects of the program focused on cultural integration. The study also sought to gauge whether the Vietnamese language ability of the international student learners had been improved by engagement in the new program in comparison with student performance from the previous year. While such improvement was evident, the study offers suggestions for further improvement of the program. Received: 29 April 2022 / Accepted: 30 June 2022 / Published: 5 July 2022

Developing English Pragmatic Based Material for Students of Hotel Management Study Program

There were some miscommunications occurred between speakers and listeners because the listener did not understand the core intent of the speaker, especially what was conveyed implies pragmatic meaning. Thus, "pragmatic" material is urgently needed to be incorporated to the curriculum of basic English as well as English conversation, to enrich student's vocabulary in understanding the culture and meanings of native English speakers. Thus, this study is aimed to develop the pragmatic based English material that is appropriate to the students’ needs of Hotel Management study program. This research was conducted based on Research and Development techniques (R & D). The research was carried out by: (1) analyzing the existing curriculum and syllabus, analyzing existing materials, and analyzing the students' needs to identify problems, (2) reviewing the principles about effective teaching materials, (3) designing syllabus and teaching materials, (4) validating new teaching materials with the experts, and (5) revising teaching materials as advised by experts. The data were collected through questionnaire analysis and interview. Meanwhile, the development of the material followed these steps, as used by Hutchinson in Ichsanda (2013: 36): 1), collected information on target needs by distributing questionnaires to students of STIM Sukma, 2) analyzed students' learning needs, 3), read and analyzed pre-existing materials; 4) developed materials according to student needs; 5), revision; 6); prepared the drafts; 7), and had a triangulation with experts; 8); final drafts; 9), product application. Based on the analysis, material that is appropriate with hotel management study program has been created and developed.Keywords: Developing materials, hotel Management
