This article investigated the students’ responses to narrative text through the animated film. The place of this study was one of the public schools in Yogyakarta Province. The subject of this study was eleventh-grade students. This study was implemented in three phases, e.g., the reconnaissance process, cycle one, and cycle two. The stages conducted in this study contained four steps: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Moreover, the type of data of this study was qualitative data. The technique of collecting data used in this study was the observation checklists and interview guidance. Furthermore, the technique of analyzing this study's data used descriptive statistics and descriptive analysis. The observation showed that the students’ perception of the students’ interest, attention, activeness, and concentration improved. Besides, the interview result showed that the animated film brought a sense of happiness and a reduced sense of distress among the students during the learning activity. The animated film was also considered a medium to replace conventional teaching methods, e.g., teaching books. The animated film was also a trigger for the students to give their attention during the ongoing class. The animated film was also regarded as an innovation in class activity (including teaching methods, learning ideas, and learning atmosphere) so that the class became alive.

The goal of the research consists in showing that application of a video blog as an extracurricular activity is a very effective interactive method that improves the process of the learning of a new language. The main research method was modeling the process of organizing extracurricular activity using a video blog for students at preparatory department of a nonlanguage-centered university. A group of international students that was studying a foreign language created a video blog under the supervision of a teacher. The objective of this blog was preparation and uploading topical videos about different places in Odessa (Ukraine). Analyzing this project -the implementation of a video blog at the initial phase of foreign language learning shows us that integration of topical video blogs into the learning process as an extracurricular activity enhances the students' education in many ways: primarily, it cultivates communication skills, trains oral perception, improve understanding of native speakers and interest in a foreign language learning. We can conclude that the future development and implementation of blogtechnology as an interactive method of extracurricular activity will be an important and useful tool.

Student's Perception of Improving Speaking Skills Through Video Recording Task

Speaking is one of the most important skills to enhance effective communication. The research aimed to find out (1) students' perception of improving speaking skills through video recording tasks and (2) student's feelings when doing video recording tasks. The research was qualitative. The participants were ten students taking part in the Speaking 1 class in the academic year 2023/2024 at the English Department Program. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and a questionnaire listed. Findings showed student's responses to the speaking task, such as (1) students enjoyed making video recordings, (2) students often watched the video many times before being handed over to the lecturer, (3) students often reviewed and exercised through their video clips, (4) students often evaluated their video to recognize their speaking mistakes, (5) students always practiced their speaking before recording their video. In addition, relating to the students' feelings, data showed that students were happy to do a video recording task. They were confident in using the English language. They mentioned that it was easy to use the application for practicing. They could learn how to use the applications for editing a video. Therefore, these class activities were useful for helping students with their speaking. Their process can be seen in the progress which is going on.
