The structure and properties of hardened stainless steels with a shape memory effect

Abstract: A possibility of obtaining the shape memory effect has been investigated as a result of γ→ε→γ transformations in stainless steels hardened by VC carbides. Age hardening conditions at 650 and 720 °C for stainless steels containing (in mass %) 0.20 -0.35 C, 1 V, 3 -4 Si, 9 and 13 -14 Cr are presented.
