The stress‐prone personality: A review of the research in the context of occupational stress

Abstract: This article reviews the recent research into personality predisposition in terms of stress, with particular reference to occupational contexts. We explore the work on type A behaviour, locus of control, the 'hardy' personality, extraversion/ neuroticism/ psychoticism and tension discharge rate. We attempt to highlight how these findings might be of use in understanding occupational stress.
