ResumenEste documento aborda la forma en que se puede comprender la identidad de mujeres de unidades territoriales distintas a partir de la forma en que usan y perciben el tiempo. Se trata de mujeres que viven en unidades territoriales vecinas, pero a su vez muy disí-miles: pueblos conurbados, colonias populares y colonias residenciales. A lo largo del trabajo se presenta el marco teórico-metodológico que se utilizó para aproximarse al aspecto temporal. Se hace hincapié en la necesidad de tener un acercamiento desde una perspectiva de género, ya que la forma en que se utiliza el tiempo está fuertemente vinculada a la idea que se tiene de ser hombre o de ser mujer. Asimismo, los aspectos generacional y de clase influyen sobre la manera en que el tiempo es utilizado.Palabras clave: género; tiempo; temporalidades; espacio; ciudad; generaciones; clases sociales. Abstract Times and women in Santa Fe, Mexico CityThis paper approaches the way to understand women's identities from diverse territorial units departing from the way they use and perceive time. We focus on women living in neighboring territorial units, but with many dissimilarities: towns absorbed by the city, popular neighborhoods and middle-class neighborhoods. In 1937 P. A. Sorokin, together with R. K.Merton, published an essay entitled Social Time: A Methodological and Functional Analysis, in the American Journal of Sociology. They noted that most social scientists share in a silent assumption about the use of the astronomical concept of evenly flowing, quantitative time, and maintained that the astronomical concept of time has a number of shortcomings when applied in the social sphere, so they tried to promote the concept of "social time" as a methodological tool, to lead to a deeper understanding of social periodicity. Since then, the concept of social time has become settled in sociology and social sciences and been the subject of various reflections. This paper examines the problems associated with its use.
