The size effect in the equation of state for nanostructures

Abstract: In analogy to the interacting real gas the magnetic systems are described like magnons which form the system of interacting quasi-particles. In order to describe the magnetic systems, firstly the equation of state for real gas is introduced and next the model is developed in the case of magnons for the confined geometry. In particular, the applications of magnetic equation of states for thin films and nanowires with unit cell cross sections as well as for nanoparticles are considered. Moreover, the size effect… Show more

“…From both approaches, differences in the ν exponent of Fe 0.5 Mn 0.1 Al 0.4 nanoparticles with respect to that of the pure Ising model agree with Harris and Fisher arguments. Finally, we want to stress that, even though thermodynamical models can be indeed used in the study of nanostructures [56] and they can reproduce experimental features, special attention must be paid regarding critical behavior depending on the approximations of the model.…”

“…For thin layers the magnetization exhibits the dependence on the number of monolayers in the F M layer. When the number of F M layers increases, the magnetization tends towards the bulk value for the 3D system [1]. The transport properties were examined by means of the equivalent network of resistors for an Fe/Cr/Fe/Cr four layer cells and the equation of state.…”
