The Simplified Description of Dipole Radiative Strength Function

Abstract: The gamma-decay strength function is calculated and compared with experimental data to test simple methods of the descriptions of the dipole radiative strength function (RSF) of gamma-decay in the middle-weight and heavy atomic nuclei. Simplified version of the modified Lorentzian model is proposed. It is shown that the phenomenological closed-form models with asymmetric shape can be used for overall estimates of the dipole RSF in the gamma-ray energy region up to about 20 MeV when giant dipole resonance (GDR)… Show more

“…The photonuclear data around the peaks of the GDR can be fitted by Lorentz, Breit-Wigner and Gaussian functions equally well, but their low-and high-energy tails are a different matter [28,29]. Lorentz (G L ) and Breit-Wigner (G BW ) shapes of the photoabsorption cross sections can be derived from different theoretical approaches [30][31][32][33][34][35]. The Lorentzian shape can be transformed to Breit-Wigner,…”

“…The photonuclear data near the peaks of the GDR can be fitted by Lorentz, Breit-Wigner or Gaussian functions equally well, but their low-and high-energy tails differ significantly [24,134]. Lorentz and Breit-Wigner shapes of the photoabsorption cross sections can be derived from different theoretical approaches [7,135]. The Lorentzian shape can be transformed to a Breit-Wigner form but with a shape width that depends on the photon energy, resonance energy and width of the Lorentzian [106].…”
