The significant association of CCND1 genotypes with colorectal cancer in Taiwan

Abstract: Colorectal cancer, one million cases of diagnosis worldwide annually, is one of the most common malignant tumors and 20 % incidence caused by low penetrance susceptibility genes. Cyclin D1 (CCND1) regulating cell cycle transition may determine the susceptible individuals to genomic instability and carcinogenesis. The study aimed at examining the contribution of CCND1 genotypes to colorectal cancer risk in Taiwan. The genotypes of CCND1 A870G (rs9344) and G1722C (rs678653) were determined among 362 colorectal c… Show more

“…Statistically, 15-20% of CRC cases are with strong familial cancer history that have interested the molecular epidemiologists to figure out additional genomic susceptibility factors (5)(6)(7). In Taiwan, although specific biomarkers for CRC prediction and detection have keeping on being reported in the decade (8)(9)(10)(11)(12), the interactions among the genomic and environmental risk factors, such as smoking and alcohol drinking are mostly unknown.…”

“…About 15-20% of CRC cases are with strong familial history of cancer that have interested the epidemiologists to figure out additional inherited susceptibility factors (6)(7)(8). In Taiwan, although specific biomarkers for CRC prediction and detection have keeping on being reported in recent years (9)(10)(11)(12)(13)(14)(15)(16), the genomic susceptibility of CRC and the interactions among the genomic and environmental risk factors are mostly unknown.…”
