“…(P \ 0.001). Furthermore, 52.8% of patients with TVFLs had abnormal distal esophageal acid contact, which confirms observations from previous studies associating TVFLs with LPR [8][9][10]. In the control group of typical GERD, 4 (16.7%) patients had one LPRE each and were considered LPR?, a finding in accordance with the study by Byrne et al [22] who used a similar pH monitoring catheter but a different analysis methodology to find pathologic LPR at a threshold of 3 LPREs at pH \ 4 in 21% of 276 GERD patients.…”

“…Kuhn et al [8] recorded pharyngeal reflux episodes on 24-h double probe, pH monitoring in 7 out of 11 patients with VFNs, while Ulualp et al [9] recorded pharyngeal reflux episodes in 7 of 9 patients with posterior laryngitis and VFNs. In a large study conducted in South Korea, Chung et al [10] documented LPR in 33 of 50 patients with VFNs, in 30 of 40 patients with VFPs and in 16 of 18 patients with RE. With respect to VFPs and VFNs, these findings are consistent with those of our own study, which is the largest to report LPR?…”
