“…It is important to consider that there is currently a wide variety of digital systems available and the effectiveness of the systems can be relative conditional on diagnostic task (Nascimento et al . ,b). In this way, the effects of delayed PSP scanning can be different depending on digital systems.…”

“…Furthermore, periapical radiography provides a two-dimensional representation of threedimensional anatomical structures; thus, the tooth and the surrounding structures may mask the fracture, particularly if the beam does not pass along the fracture line. [5][6][7][8][9] CBCT has been used for proper diagnosis of root fractures to overcome the inherent disadvantages of anatomic superimposition. 10 CBCT has allowed dental practitioners to visualize teeth three-dimensionally and with high spatial resolution.…”

“…However, within a clinical setting, the results are not that clear and convincing [ 34 ]. Several variables may infl uence the interpretation of these diagnostic tools: presence or not of root fi lling and postmaterial [ 30 , 31 , 35 , 36 ], various parameters used for interpreting the digital images [ 32 ], as well as the voxel size used when evaluating the tomographic fi eld of view [ 30 ].…”
