Streszczenie: Jednym z elementów szerokiego wachlarza rozwiązań służących podnoszeniu jakości edukacji włączającej są koordynatorzy określani mianem SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), którzy w wielu krajach odgrywają istotną rolę w kreowaniu, wspieraniu i koordynowaniu edukacji włączającej w przestrzeni szkoły ogólnodostępnej. Stanowisko koordynatora ds. specjalnych potrzeb edukacyjnych jak dotąd nie zostało usankcjonowane prawnie w naszym kraju. Niemniej jednak jego propozycja -pod nazwą KEW (koordynator edukacji włączającej) -pojawiła się w dwóch dokumentach opracowanych w zespołach pod auspicjami MEN w roku. Zdawkowe przywołanie KEW znajdujemy w opracowaniu pt. Wspieranie podnoszenia jakości edukacji włączającej w Polsce ( ), a znacznie obszerniejsze informacje, z dokładnym uwzględnieniem jego zadań, zostały sformułowane w projekcie zatytułowanym "Model edukacji dla wszystkich" ( ).Celem opracowania jest konfrontacja przywołanej w "Modelu edukacji dla wszystkich" propozycji zadań KEW z informacjami na temat roli SENCo, jaką odgrywa on w angielskim systemie kształcenia, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem projektowanych dla niego zadań oraz trudności związanych z ich realizacją. W pierwszej części artykułu odniosę się ogólnie do obecnego stanu edukacji włączającej w Polsce, w kolejnej zaprezentuję podstawowe informacje na temat roli i zadań koordynatorów zaczerpnięte z doświadczeń innych krajów, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem brytyjskiego modelu. Meritum opracowania stanowi analiza propozycji roli i zadań KEW, zawarta w "Modelu edukacji dla wszystkich" ( ). Całość zamkną konkluzje końcowe.
