Abstract:While protein kinases are best understood for their phosphoryl transfer enzymatic activities, recent mechanistic studies have led to recognition of non‐catalytic functions in cell signaling. Studies of pseudokinases ‐ the catalytically‐impaired or dead cousins of conventional protein kinases ‐ have been instrumental in shining light on the vast, varied and ever‐expanding repertoire of mechanisms by which kinase‐like domains can mediate protein interactions to modulate cellular signaling.Although best character… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
