The scientific network of surfactants: Structural analysis

Abstract: The scientific network of the surfactants and related subjects has been analyzed with the CoPalRed © knowledge system. The actors studied have been countries, research centers and laboratories, researchers, and journals. The thematic map of the major research areas has been established. Most of the research areas, and those that have the greatest representation in terms of number of documents, are related to physics and chemistry. However, biochemistry and cell biology, medicine (pediatrics and pulmonary physi… Show more

“…It deals directly with sets of terms shared by documents, mapping the pertinent literature directly from the interactions of key terms. Co-word analysis has been used to analyze the interactions between basic and technological research (Callon et al, 1991), study the software engineering field (Coulter et al, 1998), the information research field (Ding, Chowdhury, & Foo, 2001), the scientific area of physical chemistry of surfactants (Bailón-Moreno, Jurado-Alameda, & Ruz-Baños, 2006), the Spanish FST field (López-Herrera et al, 2009), to study the hybridization of the FST field with other computational intelligence techniques (and fields) (López-Herrera, Cobo, Herrera-Viedma, & Herrera, 2010), among others applications.…”

“…For example, the National Science Board reports the numbers of articles published by year for over 90 different countries, with additional statistics at regional levels [3: Appendix Table 5-41]. Country rankings based on paper counts have also been done for a variety of topics [4] and at the level of the research group [5]. Such studies are carried out for patents as well as literature [6].…”
