The Saucer Bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Naucoridae) of French Guiana

Abstract: Northeastern South America has been historically undersampled across most biota.  Surveys conducted for aquatic insects in French Guiana during the past 14 years have resulted in the collection of 16 species of Naucoridae, of which 10 are new country records.  Of these 16 species, 10 are in the subfamily Ambrysinae, one in Ilyocorinae, and five in Limnocorinae.  At least six of these species are considered rare, as very few specimens are known.  A checklist, annotated list, distribution maps, and an illustrate… Show more
