“…7) with the concentration of TiO 2 may be attributed to a enhancement in the dimensionality of conducting space with increase in the content of TiO 2 [55]. The low temperature part of the conductivity (a near temperature independent part as in the case of present glasses) up to nearly 70 • C can be explained on the basis of quantum mechanical tunneling model [56] similar to many other glass systems reported recently [57][58][59].…”

“…The V 5+ ions take part network forming positions with VO5 structural units and form linkages of the type V-O-B. The V 4+ ions form vanadyl complexes (VO 2+ ), act as modifiers and distort the glass network similar to Na + ions [8][9][10][11]. The influence of proportion of V 4+ /V 5+ ions on BO3/BO4 units can be affect to the density of the glass.…”

“…The addition of alkali and alkaline earth oxide in borate glasses results into the network modification which gives rise to different non-linear optical properties making these glasses suitable for optoelectronic applications [6]. Many researchers studied the alkali halide borate glasses for application as fast ion conductor [7][8][9][10][11] but when it came to the case of alkaline earth halide borate glasses, relatively lesser attention was paid [12][13][14][15]. Farouk et al [12] studied the CaO-B 2 O 3 -Fe 2 O 3 -CaCl 2 system and concluded from the Mossbauer spectroscopy results that there is a close link between Cl À and Fe 2+ /Fe 3+ ions and addition of CaCl 2 strongly affects the Fe 3+ /Fe 2+ ratio.…”
