In this work, kindergarten toy storage, defined as the construction area, puzzle area, scientific observation area, and role-playing area, and the toy characteristics of the four areas, was studied. Interviews and grounded theory were used to observe and summarize the behavioral needs of 3- to 6-year-old children and preschool teachers. Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was used to analyze behavioral needs. It was concluded that the kindergarten toy locker optimization was designed to improve storage efficiency. However, the current layout of kindergarten toy lockers is chaotic, and children cannot efficiently and autonomously take toys from toy lockers. The best toy locker layout scheme was selected through an eye tracking experiment. The subjects were all 3- to 6-year-old children, a total of 30 people. By comparing the data such as hot spot map, trajectory map, area of the first viewpoint, and gaze time when children observed different lockers layout during the experiment, the optimal layout scheme of kindergarten toy lockers was comprehensively analyzed. Optimizing the zoning, classification, and storage of kindergarten toys is conducive to improving the efficiency of children’s independent storage, creating a kindergarten game and teaching environment conducive to children’s development.

AHP and GCA Combined Approach to Green Design Evaluation of Kindergarten Furniture

Kindergarten furniture is an important part of children’s furniture. However, in sharp contrast with the high level of concern about the color, shape, structure, and modularity of kindergarten furniture, the research on green design and green evaluation of kindergarten furniture has not been given due attention. Through understanding the concept and principles of green design, this paper presents an objective approach to evaluate the green design of kindergarten furniture. An evaluation method based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) integrating gray correlation analysis (GCA) for kindergarten furniture green design was proposed. By using the AHP to determine the green design elements of kindergarten furniture, five standard layer indicators were obtained in aspects of environmental friendliness of the materials, color, technological structure, size, and interestingness, as well as 11 criterion layer indicators: environmental friendliness of structural materials, environmental friendliness of adhesives, environmental friendliness of paint, stimulate creativity or enhance concentration, avoid the feelings of unsteadiness, structural stability, rounding the edges, comfortable to use, size adjustable, interesting decorative patterns, and modular. Afterward, GCA was used to evaluate the green design of five kindergarten furniture schemes and a comprehensive evaluation score was obtained. Taking the design scheme represented by five desk and chair sets in kindergarten as an example, the effectiveness of this method was verified, and the advantages and disadvantages of the five desk and chair sets were analyzed and compared. The results showed that the third desk and chair sets at kindergarten made of New Zealand pine ranks first in the comprehensive green evaluation indicators, followed by the fourth sets made of rubber and wood. After the green design evaluation, we studied the carbon footprint of five furniture products and analyzed their carbon emissions at the production stage, the packaging stage, the transportation stage, and the storage stage. The results show that the amount of carbon emission is generally consistent with the evaluation results of the green scheme, which verifies the effectiveness of the green design evaluation method. This study provides an effective and feasible reference for kindergarten furniture designers. Hence, a greener kindergarten furniture design is expected to improve the learning and living environment for kindergarten-age children.

ABS TRACT:A proper sitting posture, especially when it comes to students with cerebral palsy, seems to favor a functional improvement of upper limbs and, consequently, an improvement in motor performance during school activities and learning. In this context, the aim of this study was to verify the infl uence of furniture on the manual dexterity of the child with cerebral palsy during a tracing activity. Six students with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy participated in the study. For data collection the participants were positioned in adapted furniture and performed a previously elaborated tracing activity. Th is activity was repeated 10 times on each item of furniture used: 1) on furniture without initial adjustment (WIA); 2) on furniture with adjustment (WA); and 3) again on furniture without fi nal adjustment (WFA). Th e tracing analysis was performed by using the MovAlyzeR 6.1 software. For the analysis of the data, the average of the performance for each variable in each item of furniture used was conducted. Th e data was then treated statistically and the variables analyzed: vertical velocity peak, vertical acceleration peak, jerk, stroke, activity execution time, pen pressure on paper, linear error and absolute size of the tracing activity. Th e results indicated that all participants presented diffi culties in performing the tracing, however, the furniture adapted to the needs of the user infl uenced the variables vertical velocity peak and activity execution time. It is concluded that adequate furniture may infl uence the manual dexterity of students with cerebral palsy.KEYWORDS: Cerebral palsy. Assistive technology. Furniture. RESUMO:Uma postura sentada adequada, principalmente quando se trata de alunos com paralisia cerebral, parece favorecer uma melhora funcional de membros superiores e, consequentemente, uma melhora no desempenho motor durante as atividades escolares e na aprendizagem. Nesse contexto, este estudo teve como objetivo verifi car a infl uência do mobiliário na destreza manual da criança com paralisia cerebral durante uma atividade de traçado. Participaram seis alunos com diagnóstico de paralisia cerebral. Para a coleta de dados, os participantes foram posicionados em mobiliário adaptado e realizaram uma atividade previamente elaborada de traçado. Essa atividade foi repetida 10 vezes em cada mobiliário utilizado: 1) no mobiliário sem adequação inicial (SAI); 2) no mobiliário com adequação (CA); e 3) novamente no mobiliário sem adequação fi nal (SAF). A análise do traçado foi realizada por meio do programa MovAlyzeR 6.1. Para a análise dos dados, foi realizada a média do desempenho para cada variável em cada mobiliário utilizado. Em seguida, os dados foram tratados estatisticamente e analisadas as variáveis: pico de velocidade vertical, pico de aceleração vertical, jerk, stroke, tempo de execução da atividade, pressão da caneta no papel, erro linear e tamanho absoluto da atividade de traçado.
