Abstract: Mitochondria play a pivotal role in lifespan regulation, though the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. As ageing progresses, damaged mitochondria with reduced ATP production and increased Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) generation accumulate, yet mitochondrial depletion extends the lifespan of various animal models.
