The Role Of Relative Slope Length In Flood Hazard Mapping Using Ahp And Gis (Case Study: Lam River Basin, Vietnam)

Abstract: In addition to the five main factors affecting the formation of floods including slope, rainfall, drainage density, soil, and land cover, the relative slope length factor has also been considered to be one of the fundamental causes that contribute to flood hazard. The paper analyzes the theoretical basis for choosing the relative slope length criterion when zoning flood hazard in Lam river basin. The important role of this factor was evaluated by the results of the flood risk zoning map established by the meth… Show more

“…Choosing elevation over height for the paper offers a more consistent and standardized measure referenced to sea level, facilitating accurate assessment of terrain features and water ow patterns 1.3.2 Slope represents the steepness or incline of a surface, usually expressed as a percentage or angle. It indicates how much a surface rises or falls over a certain horizontal distance and is essential in understanding drainage patterns and surface runoff (Dung et al 2020). 1.3.3 Lithology refers to the physical characteristics and composition of rocks or sediments within the Earth's crust (Vojtek and Vojteková 2019).…”

“…AHP is a Multiple-Criteria Decision-Analysis (MCDA) technique used in solving various decision-making problems [18][19][20]. It is suitable for the evaluation of complex multiattribute alternatives [21], because it is considered one of the most effective and easy procedures [22]. The AHP model has been applied to determine weights and ranks of all the subcategories [23].…”
