The role of platelet microparticles in the production of antibodies from B lymphocytes against HLA-DR antigen in vitro

Abstract: Background: Platelets can activate B cells and stimulate them for the production of antibodies. Since platelet microparticles (PMPs) originate from platelets, they may have the same virtue. In the present study, the effect of PMPs was investigated on the production of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-specific antibody from B cells in vitro. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, HLA-DR antigen was solubilized from the immortalized B lymphocytes (Daudi cell line) and purified using the affinity c… Show more

“…On EVs, gp350 conferred B‐cell tropism and cargo delivery functionality both in vitro (Vallhov et al., 1950 ; Xiu et al., 2022 ) and in vivo (Xiu et al., 2022 ). Platelet‐derived EVs have also been shown to stimulate the production of antibodies from immortalized and primary B cells in vitro, although EV‐B cell interactions were not specifically assayed (Khayati & Yari, 2019 ; Yari et al., 2018 ). Microparticles derived from Kato cells interacted at high levels with B cells in vitro when the microparticles were preincubated with complement‐containing human serum (Köppler et al., 2006 ).…”
